Reiki Healing by Carol McIntosh

What Happens in a Treatment?
~

Receiving a Reiki treatment is very simple. The recipient simply gets comfortable and relaxes, either sitting or laying down.

There is no need to remove any clothing as Reiki will pass through. The practitioner gently places their hands non-intrusively in a sequence of positions which cover the whole body. The whole person is treated rather than specific symptoms. Symptoms often have a cause elsewhere in the system. Reiki works best at healing the causes of disease rather than the symptoms and conditions themselves.

A full treatment can last up to 1.5 hours. However, meaningful healing can take place in a much shorter time. If time is difficult to come by, a healing attunement takes a few minutes and can last several days, sometimes weeks. Having said that, the positive effects of simply making time for healing cannot be over stated.

Reiki healing can be given anywhere at any time as no special equipment is needed. The practitioner is a channel which the energy is drawn through by the need for balance in the recipient. Neither person has to use any effort of will or concentration during this process, although a genuine desire to be healed is helpful.
